Wishing You Calm.

As we enter Christmas time next week, I thought it might be helpful to give you what I feel matters most during this special season.

Could you use more calm right now?

Would the gift of calm help you enjoy this special time of year more?

Christmas, to me, is all about quiet reflection and going inside to better understand the miraculous gifts we have all been given. It’s about remembering those who are special to us, the meaningful moments throughout the year, and the constant, never-ending presence of Spirit available to us when we slow down and notice the beauty and joy that surrounds us always. It’s sometimes hard to have this awareness when your entire world feels frenetic and unsettled.

Today I’m bringing you 3 simple ways to get calm now.

Let’s face it, you’re busy. I’ll keep this short and to the point.

Close your eyes.

Did you know that the majority of sensory overload you experience comes through your eye optics? When we close our eyes, we give our nervous system the opportunity to rest.

We literally eliminate hundreds, if not thousands, of stimuli from making it to our brains.

It’s such a wonderful, quick way to give your mind a rest.

Breathe Deeply.

Now that your eyes are closed, take some good, deep breaths.

Inhale for 4. Hold for 2. Exhale for 8. Repeat until you notice your body sensations settling and becoming calmer.

Think of Joy.

Find something with your eyes closed to think about that brings you joy.

Retrieve a favorite memory of a Christmas Day that felt extra special or a moving conversation between yourself and a loved one. Or maybe it’s an event where you felt fully, completely in your element. Alive, gorgeous (you are!) and feeling the love from the Universe - think of this moment and feel it now. Put a smile on your face to help the process and recall an example that Love Actually is all around, when we care to look for it. (Fun holiday movie to watch BTW if you’ve never seen it.)

That’s the shortcut to calm. There are many more steps to share in future posts, but you have gifting and wrapping and snuggling to do. These are the days that will make for meaningful memories for your future self to look back on and cherish. Make the moments count!

If you’re struggling with creating calm in your life, I want to help. Let me coach you so that you discover how to self-regulate and build resiliency so that your life is truly a celebration.

Why not start the new year off with the support to meet the goals you hold deep in your heart?
