Freedom for All?

Today, as I’m writing this, we’re celebrating Independence Day in the US.

It’s made freedom top of mind for me.

For many, their lack of liberties are most felt at their place of work. I'm curious. How would you rate your organization's culture in terms of providing freedom to all the employees to do their best work?

What keeps YOU from showing up and making the contributions of your heart?

Does your company value you, despite your gender, race, religious beliefs, accent, appearance, degree, etc?

Can you voice a contrarian perspective? Do leaders in your workplace embrace dissension, knowing that this can bring valuable insights to bear on results?

Are there practices in place to ensure you and others feel welcomed?

Is personal growth encouraged for all individuals vs only a select few?

Is there a policy for supporting those with families and whom have little choice but to work virtually?

Are the benefits provided actually addressing the real concerns that matter to you and others at this moment?

Is mental health spoken about openly in your workplace and are there policies in place to address those in need?

Do the leaders in your place of work take time to understand their blindspots on all things mentioned above (and then respond quickly to correct and improve their direction?)

Too often, organizations lose their way and focus too much on their profits, forgetting that their people are their most valuable asset.

If you’re reading this, you matter.
